Saffron Bread


Servings: 10

Yields: Makes a 1 1/2 pound loaf.

Ingredients:

1/16 teaspoon powdered saffron
1/4 cup hot water
2/3 cup milk, scalded
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 1/2 cups flour
1 whole egg white
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 package dry yeast, 2 1/4 teaspoons
1/2 cup currants
1 cup dried fruit, mixed and cut up

Instructions:

1. Steep saffron in hot water for 15-20 minutes in bread machine.

2. Add scalded milk and oil.  Add remaining ingredients in order given above.

3. If adding fruit, add to machine at second beep or at end of mixing cycle.
