Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup dark molasses
1/2 teaspoon anise seed
1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
1 tablespoon salt
2 packages dry yeast, dissolved into warm water
4 cups rye flour
5 cups white flour
Instructions:
1. Heat milk and add shortening, syrup molasses, and spices. Remove from stove when mixture is luke warm and add yeast and salt.
2. Place the two flours in a big bowl and mix them thoroughly.
3. Add liquid and work with hand until everything is mixed well and is pliable.
4. Set aside until double in size. Let rise twice before baking at 350 degrees until done.
