Cardamom Bread

Notes:  This is Aunt Penny's Recipe


Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cardamon
1/4 cup butter

1 package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 each eggs
5 cups flour

Instructions:

1. Heat milk to hot, dissolve sugar, salt, cardamon, and butter in milk and cool to lukewarm.

2. Dissolve yeast in warm water.  In a large bowl beat 2 eggs, add milk mixture and yeast.  Then add 2 cups flour and beat vigorously.

3. Gradually add 3 more cups of flour.  Knead well, let raise until double.  Divide dough into two halfs, then divide each half into three, roll out and braid.

4. Put in a shallow greased pan and let raise, not quite double approx. 1/2 hour.

5. Bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes, makes 2 loaves

6. Brush with butter and sprinkle with sugar.
